The Research

Neural Coherence Ecology Theory & Model (NCE)

Neural Coherence Ecology treats a person as a living ecosystem rather than a set of parts to repair. It describes four interdependent Infrastructures, Rhythm, Activation, Patterning, and Synchrony. Like most ecosystems, its coherence becomes visible when treated with responsible respect. It is the work of stewardship and it sustains your wellbeing: a practical baseline of stable operation across the whole person. Because a human being matures and functions only among other people, society is an external ecosystem interdependent with each person’s internal one.

Functional Coherence Theory & Model (FCT)

Functional Coherence is about how a person operates day to day. It describes four Functions, Focus, Cognition, Emotion, and Drive, and what each one needs in order to operate well, and what happens across the others when one falters or is carrying more than it can. The Functions are not a second name for the four Infrastructures. Each Infrastructure takes part in several Functions, and each Function draws on several Infrastructures. This is where the work is most noticeable, because the Functions are what a person can actually feel and attend to.

Developmental Coherence Theory & Model (DCT)

Developmental Coherence is about how a person develops over a life. It describes three dimensions. Maturation is the settling of the capacities ordinary human operation requires. Growth is the refining of those capacities against the conditions a person actually meets. Extension is the cultivation of particular capacities into specialized and sometimes exceptional form, whose deepest expression is mastery. These are not steps. All three forms of development run at once. The process is iterative and lasts a lifetime, continually refining and growing one’s capacity and providing further developmental opportunities.

Social Coherence Theory & Model (SCT)

Social Coherence is about how people, as individual ecosystems, work together, and how communities can be built so that they sustain the people within them. Higher-level cognition matures and works only among others and depends on feedback and shared attention, making society a requirement of human existence. Fair opportunity, roles that reflect capacity and interest, honest exchange of value, and voice, dignity, and belonging are characteristics of a coherent society, one that provides helpful feedback that informs and sustains a person. Where they fail, an exchange that would nurture extracts instead.

Applied

The Neurodivergent Protocol (NDP)

The direct operationalization of Functional Coherence. Post-diagnosis and non-clinical, the NDP begins after clinical evaluation is complete and treats neurodivergent functioning as a personal ecology to understand, support, and develop over time rather than a deficit to correct.

Story Builder

Developmental Coherence and Mastery Progression translated into early childhood practice. Story Builder is an entertaining, guided, and parent-led storymaking system in which the child stars in adventures shaped by their real interests and traits, and in which the conflicts of the story are resolved through the child’s own way of thinking and mode of action. What it develops is conceptual thinking, and what it builds around that is a family culture of shared inquiry.
